Management Team
Christopher Allan
Founder & CEO, LMT, MTI
Creating a company that serves families with special needs through positive touch therapy is something that Christopher Allan, Founder and CEO, felt personally driven to do. As a result of his own life experiences and as a massage therapist, Chris has always connected with and has deep compassion for families with special needs.
After graduating from Lauterstein Conway School of Massage in 2001, Chris spent the next four years working with massage clients of all ages, including individuals living with cognitive and physical challenges. He observed that his positive touch was making a real difference in their lives, particularly those with disabilities. In 2005, Health Care Therapies was born.
Aqua therapy is a natural fit with the company's mission because positive touch can be especially beneficial when received in the water. In 2008, Chris began offering aqua therapy as an additional service and families were quick to take advantage.
Under Chris's leadership, the Health Care Therapies team is now touching the lives of dozens of families throughout Texas. The growth of Health Care Therapies has been very rewarding, however, Chris recognizes there is much work to be done as so many families are going without the support they so desperately need. It is his mission, and that of Health Care Therapies, to be an advocate for all families with loved ones living with special needs. Their story is his story. When not working or spending time with his wife and four year old son, Chris enjoys outdoor sports, gardening and pursuing his love of music.
Melodee Powers
Program Cooridinator, LMT
Melodee Powers joined Health Care Therapies in 2007 and serves as the Program Supervisor. Melody has over ten years experience working within the special needs community, starting out as an Instructional Assistant with the Leander Independent School District. Here she supported students with severe and profound disabilities; gaining knowledge, experience and compassion for these children and their families. This life-changing event led Melodee to earn her massage therapy certification at both the state and national level as her goal was to continue to serve the special needs community through massage. Melodee is very familiar with local and state disability agencies having also worked for Easter Seals, MHMR, and Disability Assistance of Central Texas.
Melodee has deeply personal experience regarding the positive affects of massage therapy on individuals with disabilities as well as the struggles their families face on a day-to-day basis. She is the mother of four children, ranging in age from 12 years old to 27 years old. Her youngest son has systemic JRA, ADHD and Autistic tendencies. Melodee continues to support her family, and the families served by Health Care Therapies, through personal growth and continued education.
